Firekeeper's Daughter

Firekeeper's Daughter by Angeline Boulley is a masterpiece. I wasn’t ready for everything that this book was. This was a “judge a book by it’s cover” pick and can you really blame me? The artwork is gorgeous and eye catching but the content between the cover is nothing short of amazing.
This book follows Daunis who is navigating figuring out her future, being a witness to a terrible tragedy, and becoming a part of an investigation that makes her world basically unravel around her. Her story definitely took me for an unexpected ride while peaking my interest when it comes to learning more about the culture and traditions of the people who inspired her story.
I do have to point out this story takes place in my home state which is cool. It adds something special to the story. Reading and coming across places that I know and in some cases have been literally pulls you into certain parts of the story. My favorite character in the book is Daunis and not just because she’s the main character. Daunis is a layered character and the author does an amazing job of painting her vividly. She’s strong but vulnerable. Incredibly smart, protective of her family and her Tribe which is something I love. Least favorite character is Levi. There’s plenty of despicable characters in this story but Levi is unmatched. To go deeper into that would give all the spoilers and I try to not spoil things but if you want to go there please jump in my inbox because i’d love to!

This book is full of twist and turns. It’s incredibly well written and was hard to put down. The characters are all complex and the twist and turns that take place had me in a chokehold especially towards the end of the book. I’m looking forward to reading this one again, it was that good. All that’s left to say is READ THIS BOOK. It’s amazing!
